Synopsis
Alec wants to die.
Unfortunately, his attempt at suicide fails, and he forced to continue surviving. Being alive means enduring attacks from bullies and verbal abuse from his step-father. Only Roxanne, his former mega geek bestie, cares that he exists.
Alec has a secret, and it’s not his ability to levitate things with his mind. When burned bodies appear in town, he fears he might not be the only person with superpowers. Can Roxanne convince him there is more to life than surviving, or will this death be his last?
I Am the First is a coming of age graphic novel that takes place in rural Maine. Filled with the uncertainty of puberty, it puts a spotlight and mental health, growing up “different,” and what it means to be a hero for yourself.
